review 1: I'm finding "Disney Kingdoms" brilliant.I went on holiday to Florida (I'm currently sat in the airport waiting for my flight) and while I was in Disney World I picked up the first four issues of the new Figment comic that they put out because I am Figment obsessed. And I will be ordering issue 5 online because it's not out yet and I'm not brave enough to find an actual comic shop at home. But anyway, they were also selling a pretty hardback collection of all five issues of the previous series they did and I also got that one because I really enjoyed Figment. The Seekers of the Weird is about two teens - Maxwell and Melody - who see their parents get captured by odd creatures, before their "black sheep" uncle, whom they've never met comes in. He takes them through their par... moreents office into another dimension into the Museum of the Weird. And "weird" is the best word ti describe it. Oh and don't forget they have to save the world...The art in this book is really pretty. The odd shapes and colours create a wonderful atmosphere to sink into. I've never really done American style comics before so it may be the standard... But I really enjoyed it.My biggest problem with this books was the twice Melody said "mommy". I'm not sure of the exact age of Melody but they got their keys on their sixteenth birthday, so she's sixteen or older. I stopped calling my mum "mummy" later than all of my friends at about twelve. This just felt a little off to me.But I did really like the fact this was based off of an abandoned attraction for the Disney theme parks. The extras in the book really helped explain this, and without them I wouldn't have known. I really enjoyed this and would recommend it although I can't really compare it to comics because I haven't read any. If you enjoy the odd, weird and magic, I would suggest you check it out!
review 2: I thought this was a great beginning to a series I look forward to. The first Disney/marvel hook up has given us a look at the Museum of the Weird. The idea behind this series is to take attractions from Disneyland and Disney World and provide a story behind them. Museum of the Weird, originally was to be an attraction which would have been a part of the Haunted Mansion. A walk through where you would seen the wondrous and bizarre, heavily featuring work by the great Rolle Crump. This had a good story and some good art. I really enjoyed the ideas behind it and some of the art of Rolle Crump. Next up Epcot Center. less
