review 1: Collects All-New X-Men issues #18-21 and X-Men Gold #1After four volumes and the "Battle of the Atom" event, I'm still incredibly interested in this series. This is another great volume, and it takes place minutes after the end of "Battle of the Atom."The new costumes are great, and I didn't realize how much the team needed them until they had been switched. I was worried that there would be too much story overlap between this title and the "Uncanny X-Men" title after the events of "Battle of the Atom," but I was pleasantly surprised that the overlap was very minimal. Bendis is doing a good job at continuing to build the character's arcs, and he is still addressing choices that have been made in the previous volumes of the series. I really like where things are going, ... moreand the addition of a new team member will help to mix things up. The X-Men Gold issue didn't tie in with the "All-New X-Men" story at all. It was merely an anniversary issue, acting as a tribute to the former creators of the X-Universe. SPOILERS:-A possible love connection between young Scott Summers and X-23 is perfect because of how much Cyclops and Wolverine hate each other.
review 2: All New X-men is on an equal playing field as Green Lantern to me. Both books are in my early reading slot since they both have boring stories however X-men has one up on Green Lantern because of the art. Now Immonen is gone so where does that leave us...So there's a huge gap which is evident from other reviews that the Battle of the Atom took place with no real explanation as to what it was all about it's quite comical when I think about it. Usually there is an explanation given but it's so vague you don't really feel inspired to read it. Bendis seems to be struggling with this book-the conflicts are non-existent and are often still centered on the whole out of time theme which has proved irksome to me from the beginning. The only thing I gathered from this arc is on the cover-they changed outfits. Sure they look nice but for some reason I'm still seeing the blue and yellow. There's a bit about X-23 and religious zealots in space armor (no really) but it's a huge yawnarama. less

The first half was okay. But the flashback scenes for the last half was garbage.
