review 1: In my recent review of 'The Pretend Wife,' I mentioned how deeply THIS novel touched me- to the point that I found myself with wet eyes at the mere mention of Heidi's late husband! That is Asher's grand achievement with 'Provence Cure': WE fall in love with Henry, through Heidi. So when the time comes for Heidi to attempt moving on with her life and her son... WE TOO have trouble giving up Henry's ghost. Heidi's happy moments feel like a kind of tragic betrayal. But at the same instant, our only option is to try to move on with her.I would just like to add that I loved how realistically the children were portrayed. They were not sarcastic, spoiled nuisances like most kids in books and film. They had feelings. They had opinions. They cared for one another and for their fami... morely. I really fell in love with this book, as a whole. My final note would be: THE PROSE. Some of the passages were so exquisitely written... I actually found myself re-reading the words aloud just to hear them. To properly appreciate the emotion or image. Strongly Recommended.
review 2: Loved it, especially the Provence portion. I can still smell the cooking and baking aromas floating from page to page, chapter to chapter. I actually bought fennel for the first time (and I am not a Spring chicken). I now use it in all kinds of dishes! And, I discovered it while making Chef Pierre's 'Chicken Provençal', one of several French recipes offered at the end of each chapter. I got much more from this book, obviously, then just a story! If you like things French, and you like things Cooking, I believe you will like this book. less

Really wanted to like it more than I did. Confirms my intent to visit Provence sometime though.

An interesting twist on moving on after things do not turn out as you planned.
