review 1: This book is one every new mother show own and read to her kids. My 18 month old loves this story because it has fun sound words like GUUUUULLLLLPPPPPP. Poor mama bird flys around like crazy trying to feed her seven babies. By the time she finishes she is exhausted, but she manages... only to have her babies wake right up wanting more food. I love it because she says oh, no! it's daddy's turn to fly and the last page shows him dutifully flying away.
review 2: Not a big fan of Tippy Tippy Tippy Hide or Muncha Muncha Muncha, but I really did enjoy this book and would love to try it on a preschool audience, probably for a spring-themed storytime. A mother bird has to feed her seven hungry chicks and so goes on seven food scavenging trips that leave her pooped
... more. This one is funny and you can make it interactive by having the kids play the chicks and cuing them to say "Feed me! Feed me!" You can also do a call-and-response with your audience with the line that indicated the mama bird is on the go: "Flappa-flap, swoop-swoop, zoom-zoom, yum!" and all its variations.Fleming using these onomatopoeia in the bunny books, too. That's my favorite thing about her picture books so far. less
