review 1: This book was a little bit clumsy and naiive; nevertheless I enjoyed it. It is always slightly difficult with translations as you are never sure whose fault the clumsiness is! I guessed the twist way back near the start, and who the murderer must be some way thru the story. The police seemed a little silly and thoughtless, but I guess the author felt they needed to be for her purposes. I think the plot was well brought together, and it made you think about social issues like poverty and bullying. Not a bad debut novel. And who doesn't love a bit of Swedish cold and snow?:)
review 2: I did enjoy this book but found the underlying reason for the murders to be unbelievable. The story was that a 6 year old boy had been bullied coming out of preschool at the age
... moreof 6. As the mother of a 6 year old myself, I find it unbelievable that a child of that age would be walking home unattended and that the entire class would gang up on him and commit the awful things they did at that age. However, other than that it was a good story although I didn't warm to the characters as much as usual. Also, there was a sub-story in the middle which I didn't really understand why it was there as it went nowhere - unless it follows on in another book? I was going to originally give this book a 3 star rating but then the story changed direction rapidly and it turned into a great book with an awesome ending!! I would recommend this book but ask that you persevere if you think it is a bit flat as it does pick up pace and you will be glad you read it by the end. I will definitely look up other books by this author. less

Begon heel erg spannend, maar zakte na een tijdje jammer genoeg in.

Good plot. Many turns. Think I figured it all out, however.
