Daisy Dalrymple
review 1: Daisy Fletcher is back and this time the mystery is very close to her former home, Fairacres. Cousin Edgar, the current Viscount Dalrymple has realized that it is time to find an heir since he and his wife are not getting one via the traditional method. Heirs of the body seem to be one of the Hot Themes of 2013-2014 as Rhys Bowen has a similar problem in her latest book. Daisy is asked to help go through the list of claimants to help determine which person has the most valid claim. Edward’s lawyer, Tommy Pearson, (husband of one of Daisy friends) is doing his best but there are a number of claims that appear valid and Daisy is the last person alive who was raised with the old Dalrymple family stories as she would make her late brother, Gervaise, tell all the details ... morewhenever their father had been talking family history—another area that males are suppose to deal with and females need not bother with. After all any worthwhile female would marry a family with a similar history and need to learn that family history or at least enough of it to identify the family portraits. All the claimants are invited to a house party at Fairacres to celebrate Edgar’s birthday and a strange series of accidents start to happen. Is one person trying to prove his claim by being the last person standing? Daisy and her husband Detective Chief Inspector Alec Fletcher do their best to wade through the paperwork and accidents until an heir is identified and peaceful happiness will again rule Fairacres.
review 2: I enjoy the DAISY series...it is a return to the comfort of Nancy Drew...disguised for grown ups. I was slightly disappointed at the "mystery" component of this book. Transparent and even for a British Cozy just too easy to solve long before the last page. But how delightful to meet the potential heirs to the family estate. Daisy's long lost relatives are an interesting assortment. Hopefully they will continue to appear on future installments. less

Satisfactory cozy. Doesn't move the story of the main characters along much...
