The Truth About the Duke
review 1: This is the third in a trilogy which has a framing device [imperiled dukedom!] scattered through all three. Most of each book is not about the main problem [imperiled dukedom!!] but how one of three brothers finds true love. But there is an attempt at a solution. In each book one brother misreads, misunderstands or does not get what is plainly in front of them, leaving it for the next brother, in the next book to ‘get’. Or not. In this third installment - I had given up hope, really, of seeing the main problem [imperiled dukedom!!!] solved. It is, but the solution required such a sudden, inexplicable infusion of unexpected events and murky melodrama – so unexpected that you feel some evil person has ripped out several chapters - you cease to care if the dukedom is s... moreaved after all.
review 2: Third in the series of the dad might have had a previous marriage oh crap. The heir finally has to fix the mess. She's a faux widow who jilted a guy because he was an ass. Now she's the family business person, thinking about investing in a canal system. He is looking for a man involved in the blackmail, who also happens to be the canal guy. Resistance on her part at first, then acceptance on both parts, leading to a hot pre-marriage love scene. He goes to figure out the blackmail (he might have a son!) and she flees her feelings. Minor angst. less

Another read in one day. I've been gobbling down this series like candy.

Didn't read a word on a treadmill, and it wasn't as good. Coincidence?
