MacCoinnich Time Travel Trilogy
review 1: Awesome, action packed adventure - Loved It!!!!The finale to the trilogy and well worth the read. This installment had so many twists and turns I was never bored and totally enthralled the whole time. This was even better than the last two installments, there was so much action and magic in this one, I couldnt wait to see what was going to happen next.Liz is Tara's sister and for safety reasons her and her son Simon are living in the past until the evil witch Grianna is taking a dirt nap. Liz is a force to be reckoned with being from the future she sees the treatment of women a whole lot differently that Fin does, as in they have an opinion too and not just baby makers. She is HILARIOUS!!!!Fin is Duncan's brother and usally the laides man, he is fierce and strong and just lo... moreves to rile up Liz, he is also conciderate and loyal and really sweet. The type of guy you wanna bring home to meet the parents because you want to drive them nuts but he ends up making them love him. This is a match made in heaven I mean the sexual tension alone is amusing and scorching. I have to mention youngest brother Cian, his heartbreak is tremendous and i even shed a few tears, he doesnt get a lot of book time but he is a fabulous character the healer is always important.Simon Liz's son has a hard time of it in this story but I think it adds to his character and aids in his magic ability, and hello how cool SHARK!!!! (not explaining in case I spoil it)Grianna I mean what a major bitch this chick has issues and some kick ass powers. The whole getting thrown back into the future again was a very nice touch I love the involvement of the two times it really brings an intersting quirk to the story. There is also a lot more magic use in this one but I think that is to be expected the finale is where all the fighting is, and some good fighting it is too.Okay the only dissapointment was no epilogue but I think that was more that I wanted a little bit more I didnt want it to end, I was pleasantly surprised though that the series is still to be carried on with Simon's book next hope there are some cameos as this bunch are a riot, and I really want to know more of their futures. AWESOME!!!!
review 2: Summary: Lizzie McAllister is not happy living in the sixteenth century. Even though she has enjoyed honing her Druid skills, she doesn’t feel at home in this era. She yearns for technology and the comforts of her modern life, even while her son, Simon, is growing more and more at peace with his new life. Simon’s Druid powers are quite unique, and also stronger than most. Lizzie can’t stop herself from wanting to baby and protect him, but his strength is flourishing in this new environment. To further complicate her life, Finlay MacCoinnich continues to be a thorn in her side. They argue and bicker constantly, but the rest of the family seems to think that the animosity is actually a form of foreplay. Fin and Liz are definitely attracted to and possessive of each other in spite of their struggles. When Liz has cause to worry about Simon’s safety, it is Fin who comforts her and stands by her side.During a wedding festival for an ally clan, Grainna sends a curse over the land that causes Liz and Fin to be thrown forward into Liz’s coveted 21st century. Desperate to get back to Simon and the rest of her family, Liz comes to realize that her home is truly in the past. And, as she works with Fin to return to his time, she also comes to accept her feelings for the man by her side.Eventually, it takes an army to face Grainna after her powers are finally restored. Each member of the chosen MacCoinnich clan plays an integral part in the final outcome. Will they be able to destroy Grainna now that she is at full strength? How many lives will be lost in the final battle? Will they be able to remain intact as a family?Review: By the end of this book, Liz and Fin were my favorite couple in the series. It took me a little while to get on board though. Don’t get me wrong, I liked them together from the start. I am just a little hesitant when it comes to bickering and arguing as foreplay. Thankfully, this didn’t last long, so my reservations were unecessary. My absolute favorite part of their love story was the fatherly role Fin assumes with Simon from the very beginning. From the first moment he stepped into that void in Simon’s life, showing him love and guidance, I was completely smitten with this man. Besides the love story, the other primary theme is finding a way to defeat and destroy Grainna. Realizing that they can’t defeat her alone now that she has regained her power, the MacCoinnich’s recruit an army to help in the final battle. It reminded me of how everyone united at the end of Harry Potter in order to defeat Voldemort and the Death Eaters. There was definitely a strong sense of unity and courage when the group finally reached the climax of their destiny. The battle scenes are incredibly intense and full of action, and the conclusion felt just as epic as I had hoped it would.I recommend this series as a whole. It is emotional, exciting, and very well-written. The series definitely has more of a magic/necromancy feeling than I would have expected in a Highlander romance, but these elements became more and more interesting with the progression of each book. less
