review 1: This book just really hit me. Maybe it was the trip back to 9/11 and the chill of the main character's "near miss." I know that date still sends a chill down people's spines and the book vividly brought back my memories of watching the planes crashing into the building repeatedly on television. I can't imagine the thought of seeing that crash out my own window. The book then told a story of patience, love, forgiveness and tolerance that I could read again and again. It wasn't too deep but it wasn't shallow. There was a lot of story and characters and personality but it never bogged down. I just really enjoyed this book. I would highly recommend it.
review 2: I actually really like this story, and I may even read it again. I will recommend it. I gave it
... morethree stars because the writing is not particularly literary. A little obvious. But the story I like. The moral point of view is one to which. I subscribe. The situations are similar to some I have experienced in a small town in my own life. But the language is occasionally distracting in its, well, predicatability. less
