review 1: Four star and a half ****1/2I had the chance of dowloading this book during the first week of its release, when it was free, and I was so happy to have a Christmas novella by Cecilia Grant on my kindle that I saved it for well after the holiday. I started it yesterday and I read until almost 2am, so engrossed I was, and finished it this morning.Until the 80% of it, it is practically perfect. Loved Andrew. Loved Lucy. The incredible amount of situations gone perfectly wrong - hilarious without being slapstick.I was, however, a bit put down by the ending. I hoped Andrew and Lucy could discuss more explicitly of their feelings. I hoped Lucy would voice that she wanted Andrew to say he wanted to marry her for herself, and not because they were compromised. I hoped she would be... more more clear about her feelings toward the end. I felt that the epilogue was superflous, as I'd much preferred the actual tale of how they went to Hatfield Hall, how they had explained their absence, how Lord Sharp had taken the news, etc.In any case I absolutely adored Andrew (great hero!!) and Grant's sensibility and nuances are always a step above.
review 2: This had the potential to be quite good but I noticed I was quite bored throughout and skipped various parts. I really enjoyed the first book in the series but was quite disappointed by this short story. It just dragged on and on and NOTHING happened! NOTHING! I felt quite robbed of a good story. I made it to the end only through sheer will and finding out how they get together. Again, it was quite inconsequential when it eventually happened. less
