review 1: What a dreadful rip off of Dan Brown. This book started badly and ended the same. The story is far fetched and how the publishers paid money for it I don't know. I realise riding the Da Vinci Code wave was probably too good to pass up. The characters are dreadful, the story unbelieveable in trying to find where Adam and Eve dropped God's book! Thankfully the 500 pages were finished in under a day so I didn't waste too much of my life. I wonder whether Charles Brokaw is worried that the Catholic Church might sue him, or worse meet him up a dark alley somewhere!
review 2: another in the ever growing genre of fabulous secrets that have been uncovered only to lead to a series of murders and narrow escapes. so far it is page turningly good.this relies on actio
... moren rather than puzzles and possible secrets. thomas lourds discovers an ancient bell with a language he has never seen inscribed on it. this leads him on a global quest/chase to track down 4 other instruments, all with the same inscription on them. he is not alone in his quest, and his competitors are not worried about killing people to get what they want. characters spout exposition instead of dialogue. there is an element of padding (but then i believe the perfect book is no more than 250 pages long and more often than not is around 200 pages). the writing is not sophisticated, though there are the occasional flash of style, which isn't surprising as this is a pen name for a successful and prolific author. it is a fun read. it won't win awards. i don't think i will be trying out any of the subsequent books in this series - not because it isn't any good, just because one was enough for me. less

Not even close to the level of a Dan Brown as some of the "reviews" claim.
