review 1: I loved this book. It is stylistically and quirkily illustrated book with a very fun, simple story and a positive moral message. The words and layout suggest it would be good for early readers, but the engaging images mean that it would also be a great book to read to or with children, before they themselves can read independently.'Oh no, George!' has two characters - Harris is a young boy who is going out and leaving George the dog alone in the house. "Will you be good George?" asks Harris. "Yes, I'll be very good." replies George.'I hope I'll be good.' thinks George on the next page...The book features a clever layout with temptations for George set up on the left-hand page and the question of "What will George do?" on the right-hand page, prior to turning the page and s... moreeeing the results. This provides an opportunity for children to put forth their thoughts... What will George do with the cake?Oh no, George! also contains some good messages about behaviour and apology. When Harris returns and finds the chaos George is upset by his own behaviour. George apologises and Harris accepts, sending a nice message about heartfelt apologies. Harris suggests going for a nice walk after George's apology and George behaves very well, avoiding similar incidents to those earlier in the book. This gives a great example of learning from experience and moderating behaviour accordingly. The final pages set up a new unresolved dilemma leaving the story very open - 'what will George do?' which could provide a great opportunity for further discussion and maintains the cheeky humour of the story.
review 2: Yea!!! A book that talks about how to keep a dog from destroying your house.Harry has to go out and asks George if he'll be good. George promises. Well, George hopes he'll be good. But then he sees a cake, and he loves cake! And the cat, he loves to play with the cat! Oh, boy. He hasn't been very good. When Harry gets home he's upset and how ruined the house is. Then he takes George for a walk and George is able to ignore the temptations along the walk because someone is spending time with him and he is getting exercise.Ok, so this won't solve all dog owner issues. However, it's a great way to show kids that if they give their dogs a walk, they might not destroy the house so often. less

THIS. I love it and have pushed it on about six people (and a class of children) since reading it.

so funny! George just can't help himself, being a dog and all, we really can't blame him.
