review 1: This is my first book by Colleen Coble and I really liked it. Tidewater Inn is first in the Hope Beach series. Libby Holladay, and her partner, Nicole, restore historical buildings. Nicole is in the process of closing a deal, on an old inn, for a developer, when she finds out the property has been willed to Libby, by a father she never met. She notifies Libby, who thinks her father died when she was five. Then, Libby witnesses Nicole being kidnapped, via web-cam. She arrives in Hope Beach, to find she has other family, who are not happy she inherited the inn. Suspicion is placed on her about Nicole's disappearance. She must find Nicole and decide whether to keep the inn, or sell, as she learns more about her family and her past.Faith plays a big part in this story. The cha... moreracters are well-written and the mystery keeps you intrigued. I look forward to reading other books, in this series.
review 2: I have really enjoyed other books by Colleen Coble, but this one was not my favorite. I found aspects of the plot hard to believe, such as that in a missing person's situation a greater search effort was not conducted initially by community members or that the adoptive son of one of the key investigators would not have seen a photo of the missing person or that her photo would not have been posted all over town, especially in a close-knit community. It also frustrated me that in general there was not a greater sense of urgency over finding the friend who had been kidnapped. less
