review 1: The story is set in the early 1800s. This is my first experience reading CS Harris. I liked the story-line and the characters. Sebastian St. Cyr is the main character. The plot centers around the death of Gabriella Tennyson, who was found murdered. She was keeping her two young nephews and they disappeared. It is interesting to see the differences in the way a crime is investigated then as compared to now. Very interesting.
review 2: I really enjoy this series. I like that each installment is something new and new characters are introduced and primary characters continue to grow and develop. Sebastian is a great character, he's one of my favorite mystery characters. He's complex and willing to see things from various points of view. I am enjoying the develo... morepment of Hero and Sebastian's relationship. The Author's Note provides some historical context and information that shows how much research and thought Harris put into this book. Looking forward to the next one! less
