review 1: How can this be an Honor Harrington book when she doesn't even appear until >150 pages in? And even then does not get the majority of space. Like a lot of series (both books and TV, and seemingly Weber is just following the trend), the grand has taken over the particular, and large conspiracies (on an enormous scale here) dominate. But I have invested too much over the years and do like the character (and the universe) enough that I will keep reading - at least for now.
review 2: I believe this book is an attempt to kill this series off by making it boring, predictable, and uninteresting. This book recaps a good portion of the last book for a reason I could not find, and even went so far as to not introduce the main character for 200 pages. Of the two "battles"
... more in this book the reader is not present for anything but the crap talking phase and the aftermath of the Titanic. I was only able to find that the book was at least written coherently as a redeeming quality. I do believe it is safe to say I will both end my relationship with this series and not recommend this book to anyone. less
