review 1: I expected more from this book. The forward by Mike Meyers lists his 3 heros as his dad, Deepak Chopra and Del Close. I was hoping that Close's understanding of Truth = Comedy would inform this book as deeply as Chopra's brand of Truth Seeking. Unfortunately, the bulk of the book is a weak narrative about a "famous comedian" who peppers his spiritual transformation with humor - but the humor is actually just a series of old jokes familiar to anyone who reads Readers Digest or listens to Prairie Home Companion. If only Meyers (or Cleese, or Ackroyd, who both contributed cover blurbs) had been called on to add some actual humor to these pages, it might have risen above the other 50+ books written by Chopra.
review 2: I really enjoyed the fictional story in this b... moreook. The messages that were present in the story of Mickey's life were much needed during the time that I read this book. Several points were highlighted as much needed reminders. The second part of the book I didn't enjoy as much. Maybe because it followed such a captivating first half and was quite dry and harder to connect to in my opinion. Overall, it was a pretty good read. less
