review 1: This book was recommended by the friend who got me hooked on the Gabriel Allon series, so I was anxious to read it. The story line takes place mostly in Rome but other locales are portrayed descriptively. Two parallel stories follow several major characters with a few surprising and less surprising twists at the end. In the beginning it's hard to remember who everybody is but as the story unfolds the plot races to a conclusion. Recommended.
review 2: A young girl has disappeared in Rome and a couple of girls have gone before her and are found dead after about a month of their disappearance. A forensic photographer and a Pentienziere (Priest) are each in their own way and for reasons of their own searching for the lost girl. The stories of a couple of people
... moreare interwoven in an intricate fashion and the narrative is set in the past as well as the (near) present.Slowly the different storylines start to merge. Central theme in the story is that there is no clear cut line between good and bad and that every person has the capacity to do evil things, given the right incentive.I find that Donato Carrisi is a very good writer of crime novels. I also liked the historical facts.Forget Dan Brown, just read Donato Carrisi or David Hewson. less
