review 1: This was an interesting, twisting tale by Donato Carrisi. Sandra Vega is our protagonist throughout the story, although at least half the book is about the elusive and mysterious priest, Marcus. The only problem I had with the book was that I had trouble keeping track of all the different characters. While the character development was strong, I thought there were too many significant characters making appearances. The storyline was great, although confusing at times, and I don't know if it is due to the writing or the translation. The translation seemed to be verbatim, instead of capturing the essence of the story. The ending was a complete surprise to me, which I appreciate, as I can usually figure out how books will end. I would definitely pick up another of Carrisi's b... moreooks.
review 2: This book was intense! I really enjoyed it- it had at least three different threads going on and they all kept moving. Carrisi writes a great mystery/suspense novel here. The story was translated from Italian and some word choices are still odd to me-'torch' for 'flashlight'? But I like that because it puts you more within the culture portrayed in the book instead of the reader trying to assimilate the story to her own experiences, which I think I often subconsciously do. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys getting that creepy feeling on the back of your neck! less

The ending left a lot unexplained! A very engaging read though, hard to put down.
