review 1: I loved this book and hated it all at once. The bad was that I was panicking while reading that I had far too many pages left for the plot to be resolved without being rushed and then the cliffhanger ending.....so frustrating but the good news is that it means that there is another book coming, and I am anxiously awaiting that book!We see the continuation of Fever Dream in this book, so if you have not read Fever Dream first, you might want to. They do summarize a lot of what happened in that one, so you can probably figure it out by reading this as a stand-alone book but it would be ideal to read Fever Dream first. Pendergast is in rare form in this book, motivated by his search for the truth and betrayed by his brother-in-law, he seeks his wife, who he discovers is no... moret dead. This search takes him on a dangerous search against an enemy that is only partially revealed in the book but not fully. There are more questions than answers in this book and for a fan of Pendergast, it is frustrating. The light at the end of the tunnel is that there is another book to look forward to.
review 2: This yarn kept my interest all the way through because the FBI hero, Pendergast gets into more than one life threatening situation in a few U.S. States and Scotland, all in the effort to find his wife, Helen. She was presumed dead but the mystery comes forth regarding a secret hidden Nazi organization in which she and her brother were involved, from far back in their lineage.Pendergast uses all of his secret helpers to solve this one. less

The best Pendergast novel so far. Two Graves and Whire Fire have a lot to live up to.
