review 1: Eckhart and creator of MUTTS cartoon present a charming, simple, and remarkably profound book about how we can increase inner peace by living in the moment, outside of our minds and egos. My favorite passage, Eckhart writes, " When you don't cover up the world with words and labels, a sense of the miraculous returns to your life that was lost a long time ago when humanity, instead of using thought, became possessed by thought. .... A depth returns to your life. Things regain their newness, their freshness." ... "We don't fall below thinking, we rise above it."
review 2: I know nothing about Eckhart Tolle, but judging by this book (which may or may not be fair), his "philosophy" is just a deculturated buddhism.I am really fond of Patrick McDonnell's MUTTS thoug... moreh, and my only disappointment was that some of the illustrations were repurposed from old strips and not unique to this book.My favorite bit was this line: "I have lived with many Zen Masters, all of them cats." less
