review 1: Edgar Allan Poe è per tanti versi l'ideatore del romanzo giallo, o meglio, l'ideatore del romanzo poiziesco, dove il ragionamento e l'intuito fanno da padroni a questa indagine. Si nota subito l'acume di Dupain e grazie al ragionamento ogni cosa è spiegata. Nonostante conoscessi già chi fosse l'asassino (cosa che se fosse stato per un altro giallo non avrei mai letto) ho divorato letteralemente questo libricino perchè qui non è la trama che cattura quanto il ragionnmento e l'intelletto. Va davvero considerato il padre di tutti i romanzi polizieschi.
review 2: Often referred to as the world's first modern detective novel. (For the longest time I thought the murders had been committed by a freakishly strong Chinese acrobat! How wrong I was!) As with other Po... moree stories, the end is a bit abrupt, and in this particular case, the introduction is a lengthy one - but as this was the first detective story of its genre, it would have been necessary at the time. I enjoyed the story and may very well find myself reading another Dupin mystery in the future. less
