A Southern Quilting Mystery
review 1: I was as ready to be rescued from this book as much as the ladies were ready to be rescued from the ice storm by the time this mystery was solved. Chapter after chapter no progress was made and I was as bored with quilting and worrying about the lack of appetizing food stores as everyone else. At least we had the comfort of knowing that the dogs were being taken care of in their owners' absence. I enjoyed the first two books in this series quite a lot more than this one.
review 2: This was a great cozy read. A group of quilters show up at a crumbling Victorian mansion on top a high hill to meet with the eccentric owner about a quilting foundation. Muriel Starnes has terminal cancer and she used this ruse to make a blanket apology to some of the quilters she
... more had wronged over the years. Beatrice and her quilting group were not invited but showed up anyway in order to throw their hat in the ring for the prize of having their guild manage the foundation. An ice storm strands them all and they are all forced to spend the night. Muriel is found dead in her bed the next morning with suspicious signs indicating smothering. Beatrice takes on the task of trying to solve the death only to have it complicated when Mr. Colton, Muriel's lawyer is found dead the next day. With no cell service, no electricity, they are all trapped in the old house together. Anyone of Muriel's invited guests could be a murderer. less

I didn't enjoy the isolated gothic house aspect.
