Welcome to Paradise
review 1: The hero, Jake was a former special force, who mastered the ability to never say anything, never get involved and always avoid any kind of inconvenience. Bree, on the other hand, was a more interesting heroine: she faced an internal struggle, when she tried to resist to Jake's renewed attraction, but she soon realized what she really wanted and then confronted him several times and tried to help him communicate and relate with others. She was really instrumental to his development, which I really liked. The secondary story between Lexie and Cooper, which started from the first instalment in the series, found here a few climatic moments that I really liked.A better one than the previous two.
review 2: What a great story! Elle Kennedy weaved such an amazing story
... more with Born to Be Wild, I could not put down my Kindle once I started. This is the third installment to Elle Kennedy' s "Welcome to Paradise" series, but it can very well be a stand-alone read. I have not read the previous two in the series & it still made perfect sense!Bree Lockhart is the smart, rich and good girl. Yet, she has a wild streak in her. During her senior year of high school, she secretly had a three month affair with bad boy Jake Bishop, the boy from the wrong side of town. Jake knows that Bree deserves better and that's why he left for the military after their affair without a backwards glance. Now 12 years later, both of them are back in Paradise on a brief visit and Jake bids on Bree during a charity auction and wins a date with her. From there, these two get together & agree on a purely physical relationship with no strings attached. However, the sparks of 12 years before have not disappeared; it has only been rekindled & this time it's hotter! And with their week long affair, Jake realizes that this time around he wants more than just a wild ride with Bree.I enjoyed this story so much I did not want it to end! I love second chances romance novels and this one did not disappoint! What I also loved about this novel was the characterizations with Bree & Jake. They were fleshed out and were likeable characters. Jake, being the bad boy hero, was tough and dominant yet there was a streak of vulnerability to him that made him all the more interesting to read about. And then there's Bree. I loved her as a heroine. She was loving and accepting of Jake & his family and wasn't snobby no matter where she stood in the social circle. What I also loved about this book was the secondary story involving Cooper & Lexie, the Mayor's daughter & another bad boy of Paradise. Although I also loved reading about them, their story did not take away from Bree & Jake's story. However, one tiny complaint that I had was that I wished Ms. Kennedy had included an epilogue. Although Bree & Jake had their HEA, I would have loved to visit with them more in an epilogue (Call me obsessed, lol) Overall, I loved Born to Be Wild. It is the perfect second chance romance story to read if that's what you're looking for! Highly recommend! less
