review 1: This is a beautiful story. But when I write beautiful, I do not mean easy, gentle … there is nothing easy and gentle about this story. Two people who never should have met, cross paths and rely on each for a period of time — and they soon realize it is an ideal time in their life that they will forever look back on. They discover love and passion and then are separated for years. This is a story that will draw you in and you will fall in love with the setting, with the historical details and the characters. And your heart will be break because ugly things do happen to these characters. The middle of this book dragged for me and there are quite a few characters that I stopped try to keep track of. The middle dragged because of important character set-up and story ... moreset-up. Despite the lag in the story, I still highly recommend this book. While the book was a little long and the middle portion dragged, the last portion of the book was rewarding.
review 2: Another one to keep close -- the story is authentic, realistic, a tear jerker, will keep you glued to the book and ignoring anyone and anything else. The hero and heroine are from different worlds -- a Comanche attack brings them together to survive. A simple twist of fate makes their love possible otherwise they would never meet. The heroine begins as someone who doesn't like herself much, but under extreme conditions becomes a strong, competent and confident woman. The characters are both people I came to care about and wish the best for -- I felt good inside after I read this book because like life, it's about how people overcome things and love deeply despite tragedy. less

Lots of drama with not too many bright spots... I was ready for this one to end.

Loved it. Great leads, wonderful secondary characters, lots of highs and lows.
