review 1: Pissed! The last 3 books I have read by this author have been bad. The last 2 books co-authored by Adams and Lucy Arlington and this book all had the same problems and things that are really turning me off reading any more cozy mysteries. (1) main character has become unlikable. I mean seriously from smart, compassionate and intuitive we have gone to being cynical and judgmental and think she can not only judge another person but determine their sentence?! (2) A big part of cozy mysteries is revisiting the secondary cast...in this book several were written off. (3) I thought cozies were about a single incident? In the last 3 books by this author it has been about a series of crimes. Time to find another genre or at least different authors who want to allow me to escape int... moreo a cozy environment
review 2: Rich, beautiful Olivia Limoges agrees to back the storytelling festival in her home town, so she is present to hear the magnetic if not hypnotic stories of Violetta Devereaux, who is murdered right after her performance. Among the suspects are Violetta's assistant, the cousin of Olivia's best friend Dixie, other storytellers who are jealous of Violetta's success, and even some of the local people. Olivia must also worry about her writers' group, as two of the members are breaking out of their romantic entanglement. Then there's her boyfriend, the police chief, who wants more commitment. I'm not crazy about Adams' writing, but this is a pleasant enough series. less
