review 1: Couldn't give anything but 5 stars because I sat in bed for 8 hours reading this yesterday. I loved the format of the book, as it was easy to follow and added to the mystery of why Lucy was running away from her old life. Although I had worked out a lot of the story before I read it, however that didn't spoil the book, and I even managed to miss something, which is unusual for me. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will seek out some other books by Emily Barr now.
review 2: Emily Barr is one of my favourite authors, having followed her from my schooldays when she wrote a column in the Sunday Times on travel. This book only got 4 stars because at part of the story, it became so dark that I had to skip a few pages. It was also a little unrealistic at the end, but I don't

Really enjoyed this book. The ending was a bit disappointing but all in all a great read.
