review 1: Slow to start, then one sentence written at the end of a chapter had me totally rethinking the parts I'd assumed and racing through to the end of the book. What starts out as the taking of a young baby, turns into the culmination of a resentment held against the MacBride family over many, many years. A chilling enough tale, though I was surprised at how little sympathy I had for the family, apart from teenage Jake who was thrust into a situation that would affect the rest of his life. I still can't work out why I found the family so unlikeable, but I do know this is my book of the month.
