review 1: I often find that when a book skips between different time periods the main drive and purpose behind the book is lost and I am less eager to regularly dip back into it. However, in this case, the author has managed to overcome this potential pitfall and I found myself ever willing to come back to the book. It is very well written, and although perhaps not as tense as the cover quotes would suggest, it was still a great book. review 2: It took me a solid 100 pages to get invested in the book. And then I kept thinking "oh, this is going to get SO good!" and there were parts that WERE good. Mostly, this book had so much potential and just didn't meet the mark. The ending absolutely infuriated me. The entire last chapter should have been left out. The ending was ba... mored enough without that. It was almost like Ms. Kelly reached the climax and then her editor said "you have 30 pages to end the book." It was sudden, totally not in theme with how I thought the book would/should end, and at the end of the day, I feel a sense of disappointment in this novel. :( less
