review 1: Gareth P. Jones apologizes for the amount of characters. He literally apologizes in his End Notes. If you're writing an amazing book and then suddenly stuffing more under-realized characters like Nell or Grunt maybe...just maybe revise the book and don't use them...?I VERY much enjoyed this book, but some questionable choices like this are going to prevent me from giving Jones's book to my students. He also manages to have a police officer make a joke about underage prostitutes. Yeah...
review 2: This was a very good book. It is about a ghost man who gets reassigned a job working in the ghost world. He decides that he can show his boss what he's made of and goes out to hunt rogue ghosts. At the same time, a boy who works at the ceremony planning for dead wit
... moreh his father and his business partner. That's the namesake, Constable and Toop. Finally, a girl moves in with her family to a new, but old house in the same town of London. While the ghost man is in the town he sees something called the Blackrot. It sucks ghosts into buildings and traps them there forever. Teaming up with the boy and a rogue ghost, the ghost man must stop the Blackrot before it destroys London all together. The book is well written and is not as confusing as it seems. The story is fluent and doesn't go off track. It's full of good words and always keeps you interested. For example, using the alternate stories in the beginning, the author leaves you at a cliff hanger so you have to read more. The author starts of with a murder scene. If anything I'd say that's something to really reel you in. Overall, the book was very good. less

At first, it didn't look really good, or sound really good either. It surprised me.... I loved it!

Lovely ghost story, set equally in the afterlife and our world.
