review 1: Its very rare that I find the story line interesting but can NOT stand the two main characters,However, that was the case with this book. The whole time I read it, I kept saying WTF?!?Ava is not fiesty, she is PsyChoTic.She could give a schizophrenic whip lash...She stabs, tasers and kicks the male lead, Victor, repeatedly and he is dumb enough to keep going back for more.This was my least favorite book in the series.
review 2: Je suis surprise (dans le bon sens) à la fois par l’auteur (que je ne connaissais pas) et l’histoire.Bien qu’il s’agisse du 5ème tome, je suis rentrée très facilement dedans, et j’ai rapidement compris les différents éléments à savoir. On se laisse facilement porter !J’ai beaucoup aimé l’héroïne (Ava Sans). J’... moreai trouvé qu’elle ne manquait pas de panache et de caractère, elle forme un beau duo car sa partenaire Noëlle ! Elles ont un langage bien à elles ! On comprend rapidement qu’elle a eu une enfance difficile mais l’auteur nous évite le larmoyant et l’inutile en en parlant peu, juste ce qu’il faut pour comprendre. Cela permet de mieux saisir le personnage.Le héros (Victor McKell), j’ai apprécié ce personnage qui parait être une créature terrifiante que personne n’arrive à capturer mais qu’Ava et Noëlle réussiront à appâter – avec des méthodes peu orthodoxes ! Mais à sa manière il leur rendra la pareille !! Bien qu’il soit un peu macho (normal jusque là il vivait dans une caverne...), on s’attache très vite à lui. C’est un personnage agréable, sympathique avec un certain humour. Il comprend rapidement ce qui lui arrive et fait tout pour que cela marche, malgré l’opposition que peu parfois lui opposer Ava, même s’ils savent se « retrouver ». Je l’ai d’autant apprécié car on découvre des choses sur son passé assez énigmatique auquel lui-même n’a pas de réponse, dommage que ce côté ne soit pas assez exploité, je l’ai trouvé court et très rapide.En tout cas, ce tome m’a donné envie de découvrir cette série mais aussi la série « Les Seigneurs de l’Ombre » du même auteur. less

I just love the alien huntress series, always entertaining and they never fail to make me laugh, no matter how many times I read them.I also love how although the men are pretty bad arse, the women just take it to another level. As dallas says to mia - "You once kneed me in the balls and asked me how they tasted. Just to say hi."Ava's relationship with Mckell and Noelle is really well written and funny. Gotta love the fake lesbianism and the mens reactions to it. So anyway, this book is awesome, although I do have an issue with the convient ending. But it doesnt detract from the amazingness that is this book.Favourite quotes - "we were just passing through, saw your fire, and thought we'd stop and make out with each other." "Darling, I cant. You know how jealous you get when every woman in the room watches my ass as I walk away from you. So really, by refusing to help you, im doing you a favour."

Can we be done with the vampire thing already? These are supposed to be alien novels, and all Showalter has done here is fit vampires into her existing mythology with a few minor twists. I'm not saying Ava and McKell aren't compelling characters, but come on. I started this series excited about the world building and the agency of alien hunters and now it's just devolved into the same blood sucking crap as every other urban fantasy series.
