Al Capone at Alcatraz
review 1: This last book in the Al Capone series really focuses on life lessons. These lessons are taught by many different characters in the book and even come from ones that you least expect. With helpful advice being instilled upon Moose, he still manages to maintain a solid friendship with his core group ( Jimmy, Theresa, Annie and Piper). Again, we also see interaction with the cons on Alcatraz and just how dangerous they really are. A hard concept for Moose to understand, at times. I love the closeness shared among Moose's family and how they "stick up" for each other when there is a crisis. Great series full of family, friendship, hard times and good times, with a little bit of history thrown in too!
review 2: Aw, I love Moose! This was a satisfying conclusi
... moreon to the Al Capone series. A mysterious fire, strange and unexpected cash flow, and danger come together as Moose tries to keep his family safe and take care of everything. Kirby Heyborne does a wonderful job with the narration, and Choldenko is a great historian and writer. I love her thorough author's notes at the end; it's really interesting to hear how people lived on Alcatraz in the first half of the 20th century. less
