review 1: Look, I'm a sucker for Green Lantern. Everyone knows it. So reviewing this is unfair and not unbiased. That said it's not exactly up to snuff. I like post-corps Hal, but I find the whole him and Carol will-he won't-he, golly gee I wish he'd just marry me! trotted out a little too often. It's really gutting her character to be this big business owner, a hero in her own right, and yet she still plays the role of reward for Hal overcoming his shit. C'mon... Everything just sort of caterwauls in a way that is indicative of the New 52 at its most mediocre. What's still canon, what's not, where is it in relation to everything? It's all so trite and frustrating. If you're gonna do a reboot that is that hard of a reboot, make it rock solid. Start fresh and build the bra... morend anew. Or just don't and let the good times roll. That said, I love GL. I love the universe Johns built. I love how much he loves Hal, because I get it.
review 2: I'm a complete noob when it comes to Green Lantern; his universe seems so complicated to try to fathom. But I'm a big Justice League fan and bought this volume when the ebook was on sale for $1.99. My favourite GL and the only one I really know is John Stewart,so I've been having to get to know Hal Jordan. For a newbie this was a pretty good introduction, even though it has picked up with a complete background to the story already in progress, everything was explained quite clearly and I knew what was going on. Geoff Johns is one of my favourite writers in the New 52 and he pulls off a good story here bringing a complete plot to conclusion in the one volume and setting the storyline up for the continuing arc. I really liked Sinestro! He's a good guy turned villain turned good guy who's really a bad guy. LOL. An anti-hero ... or is that anti-villain? Anyway the kind of bad guy you love to hate. Will look for Vol. 2. less

Wow... this is a great start for Green Lantern in the rebooted DC's The New 52. One word: SINESTRO.

The Capullo variant cover of #1 still remains my favorite part of the book.

This volume made me feel a little sympathy for Sinestro.
