Time of Legends: The Legend of Sigmar

review 1: While I very much enjoy the Warhammer universe, I am no where near as versed in its lore as I am with Warhammer 40k. The Time of Legends series is just the thing to remedy that. It's the Warhammer equivalent of the Horus Heresy series in 40k. It tells the history of the world and gives you a nice foundation to build upon.The first books I'm tackling is the Sigmar trilogy. In many Warhammer books I've read characters giving praise to Sigmar, or praying to him for aid. I didn't know much about him beside the fact that he was worshiped and carried a hammer. This first book in the series tells of young Sigmar, and his dream of uniting the tribes of men into one grand empire. It chronicles his trials and tribulations, his victories and his losses, and culminates with bat... moretle of Black Fire Pass against an invading army of orcs.I thought the books was well written, well paced, and full of great characters. I'm looking forward to continuing the series and seeing how Sigmar becomes the legend he is remembered as.
review 2: This is the first book in the Time of Legends series which is, I guess the Warhammer Fantasy Battle equivalent to the Horus Heresy novels, but while the HH deals with one massive occurance, the Time of Legends are the stories of several seminal figures in the WHFB universe.This book is about Sigmar Heldenhammer, founder of the Empire. It begins with him as a boy, and goes through his life and his struggle to bring the warring tribes of the old world under one banner that will become the Empire.The book is very fast paced and does have a fair number of battles in it even for a book that is filling in a lot of back story.Very good read. less
