review 1: Requires a tricky balance of a fan fervent enough to seek out the books, but who doesn't care that much about the continuity of elements/timeline established in the TV show.I read it for easy enjoyment, but was still bothered by some elements, like the fact that the team divvies up writing a novel. (To be fair, Leverage never went over overly realistic, and I suspect people often bounce off the single episode where they really know about the subject matter of the con.) It also may have suffered from my reading this after the other two books, as I felt each of the characters was slotted into their role a little too neatly, with no real development. One weird exception was Eliot jumping into bed with his recently killed buddy's girlfriend. The humor didn't quite work for me ... moreeither in most places, being too over-to-top (zombies being a notable exception). The neat part was that the original con got wrapped up pretty early, in classic Leverage style, only for a complication to come roaring up and take over the second half of the book.
review 2: Let's start with the things I liked about The Bestseller Job. The story was great, with typical Leverage style twists and turns and surprises. I loved the Zombie mob. A lot. But then there were so many spelling mistakes. Did anyone proofread this book at all? Things like that shouldn't happen. And then the style. Greg sure knows the characters and he sure knows their past and how they act and react but the way he tells us, just...no. It made me cringe more than once and the whole things felt half-hearted and like a job, not like something he enjoyed writing. Still it's a solid Leverage story and fans of the show will certainly enjoy it. I know I did. less

I miss the show these books are based off of. Not as good as the show itself but very close.

Great story! Just like the others it stays true to the series. Loved it. :-)

This was the best of the 2 I've read so far.
