review 1: For me, this was one was not good. I listened to the audiobook, and in that format the dialogue was painful. I was tempted to go to the library and check out the book so I could quote some of it here, but its not worth my time. I picked this book because the second in this series was nominated for or won a mystery book prize and I wanted to listen to book #1 before I listened to book #2. I will not be listening to or reading book #2. In addition to the insipid dialogue, I did not care for "Janey" - she made too many stupid mistakes in her investigating or the bland "Jakey". It looks like, based on reviews, that a lot of people liked this book; I was not one of them.

Her first assignment involves finding the elusive wife of a popular politician; meanwhile, her police detective beau is embroiled in a serial murder investigation. Soon it becomes apparent to both that their cases are linked, and that Jane is in danger. I liked the 'edge-of-your-seat' pace of this novel, and will look for the next in the series when it comes out. less
