review 1: Hide and Squeak is a warm and super cute tale about a baby mouse trying to scurry and scamper away from his Dad and bedtime.Who hasn’t tried to wiggle out of going to bed? With repeating calls and sounds, this could be the cutest telling of the chase and hunt on record. I am not a big “awww-isn’t-he-cute” type gal, but this mouse is adorable! Readers won’t be able to hide their smiles after Mouse Baby cannonballs into the bath tub! :)Made me smile!2/22/12
review 2: Well, I really wanted to like this book more than I did. With Hide and Squeak though, I just felt like it was trying too hard or something. I like the bedtime story twist, and I love the interactions of the baby mouse and the daddy. The text is written with great voice and the rhyme is ... morenice, I just didn't feel that this book was a homerun.Little Squeak is not ready for bed and proceeds to play chase with his daddy and hide. Their chase ends in goodnight hugs and kisses, but just lacked the luster of other great bedtime tales.Just ok. less
