review 1: The historical plausibility is astonishing, you start to feel you inhabit this world and start to adopt its norms, it's fear of disease, the constant references to authority (of God or king), the jockeying for position and how the common man is almost unseen. It struck me how erudite the top class were, their world is Plato and gospels and they refer directly to those in a way we could not conceive now. I do believe I will read another.
