review 1: Cannot decide between 3 or 4 stars... Probably closer to 4. Enjoyable to read and interesting premise for this post apocalyptic world. I truly enjoyed Howey's ability to create new vocabulary for this world, for example: sandscraper for skyscraper, sand diver for scuba diver. He also had interesting name changes for the cities involved. I enjoyed Howey's Wool omibus more, but great story of siblings surviving to bring back family and home.
review 2: I loved Howey's silo books and this felt very closely related to them. A little bit different in that it is life outside and the characters tend to much younger giving it a more teenage feel whereas I feel that Silo books were for adults. I keep imagining that this was life that was going on up above the silo
... mores and in some ways wanted to see more connection - but perhaps that will come later. It was a page turner and a depressing look at how the world might be if it all turns to sand. less
