review 1: I really enjoyed the introduction to Saiman in this story; he's one of my favorite characters in these books, and seeing how he and Kate met was very satisfying. I give the story four stars for mythology and cleverness in how the challenge in it is met and solved. But I'm knocking a star off that because the writing seemed weak compared to what I'm used to in the books. It didn't seem as if it got the same attention as the novels do. It's definitely worth reading, and I'm very glad Armina put me onto this story.
review 2: Set a couple/few years before Magic Bites, Kate is annoyed about her ruined shoes, she's told of a job to be someone's bodyguard for a night and she'd get $3000. Kate's all over it. This turns out to be Saiman's and Kate's first meeting. The s
... moretory is short but fun, doesn't add anything new but it's still worth a read. I loved when Kate kept Saiman tied to the bed and then used one of the creatures that was sent to attack him as a tool to get information that he was keeping from her. Great prequel, I plan on reading it again in the future. less
