review 1: Through the first half of the book, I was pretty bothered by the fact the main character seemed to be a direct lift of Prince Kheldar from the Belgariad series, my favorite character in one of my favorite fantasy series, but suckier. Then he turns into a sappy insta-love victim and the resemblance faded. I love thief/spy MCs in general, the rogueishness and tricks, but this one was a major let-down.I generally enjoy this author team (especially Innkeeper Chronicles, such a fun world), so I was pretty disappointed, even though I wasn't blown away by the first two in this series either. The book also had typos, which was a little distracting.The world building from this series, as well as Jack and George's characters, were pretty good, so I'm not writing this off as a total... more loss.
review 2: I have come to the conclussion.. I am a die-hard fan of "Ilona Andrews".Ilona Gordon and her spouse Andrew Gordon have found a way to keep me interested in every story they write."Must Read", more than that. I can't wait to read their stuff.The "Edge" books and The "Kate Daniels" works are ones I would [will] read again.This one has action and romance, great lines and a fun villian.Con-men, thevies and a few good fights.Just enough to make me want more.read it now less
