For your basic culture you need to know these works. Moreover, it is great fun to back to the source and see what the original contained.Yes the Grimm brothers might well have been called the gruesome brothers. This is why Disney and publishers who love children never present them in the original form. However, in the original form they are fabulous adult entertainment. Anyone over 19 should feel free to read them.

J'ai considéré me procurer cette édition parce que je tiens à avoir les contes dans leur version intégrale. Toutefois, j'ai trouvé que cette traduction, bien que très fidèle, n'était pas aussi poétique que celle disponible aux éditions Flammarion (Grand Format Flammarion, Contes, J. et W. Grimm, 2 volumes). Certains passages sont beaucoup plus harmonieux et en rimes chez Flammarion, qui est aussi une traduction assez fidèle des textes originaux. less

I tried and failed to finish this, though I cannot help but wonder if I was reading it the wrong way and I should read it bit by bit every so often rather then try the whole thing at once. Though it was interesting to see some of the stories such as Cinderella in their original form and enjoyed reading some new stories I had never heard of before I couldn't help but feel some of the stories were being repeated which got a bit boring.

** Books 110 - 2014 **it is about dark version of fairy tales. i love this one than disney's version.. there are some differences about snow white, cinderella, red riding hood, beauty and the beast, sleeping beauty, rapunzel, etcsomehow it is kinda boring also.. that's why it took me a long time to finish this books.. okay it is enough to give 2,9 of 5 stars for this grimm's pieces.. :)
