review 1: Really good. I read this one, realizing that it is #2 of what I believe is a trilogy, but there was enough explanation to keep me from feeling lost. Any time you can root for a "villain", and in this case, two villains, yet still root for the good guys equally, it's a good read as far as I'm concerned. The paperback was a little cumbersome, thick and tiny print, but good for the beach. Spooky and thrilling and religious and supernatural, it's interesting and pretty fun when history, religion, and vampires show up together, so if you are likely to get offended by that sort of thing, then you probably shouldn't be reading this sort of book. Judas Iscariot, an Angel, Countess Elizabeth Bathory, vampire cardinals and priests, a historical archaeologist, and a soldier, plus a l... moreittle bit of love story and saving the world from...well, either damnation or rapture, depending on each side's point of view. It kept me pretty riveted. The writing wasn't too chewy, pretty easy to follow and understand, not much Googling necessary (but since it's fiction I usually don't, anyway) I'll definitely be reading the other books in the series.

Fast paced. It's like a Dan Brown book but with vampires!
