review 1: So, I have a few things to say about this book. When I started this, throughout the first chapter, I felt like this was going to be kind of the same book like The Jaguar Stones books. But it turned out to be completely, completely different. At first it really bothered me that there were dinosaurs and humans at the same time, but obviously, the explanation followed quickly and it wasn't that bad anymore. It was more a kind of cool and clever thing to do, mixing dinosaurs and so many different human tribes, or peoples. What I really loved about this book was that there was so much mythology. And so many different kinds of it, Roman, Greek, Mayan, Vikings. I loved that all of them were thrown together with the Neanderthals and dinosaurs and had to make the best out of it, and t... morehey did. I totally enjoyed the book for these reasons.Another thing I liked is that Jake is a really clever guy who just knows and understands a lot, but he isn't a total dick about it, not a know-it-all at all.The only thing that disappointed me quite a bit was that Kady, Jake's sister, really felt like an unnessecary character to me overall. Of course there are these bits where Jake thinks about her, worries about her, because she's the only family he has left, but let's face it, the story wouldn't have lost anything if Kady didn't exist, would it? She hardly really appeared and if she did, she was barely useful to the story in any way. I really hope that will change a bit during the second book because the could be an interesting character indeed!Overall, I really enjoyed this book though and it was a really fun read for me. I'm looking forward to starting the second book right away.
review 2: Oh wow! This was a great action-adventure-mystery novel! I could not put it down! A young scholarly and athletic lone wolf on a quest! How great is that for a main character! Add to the mix – archeology, geology and fantasy, along with time travel, different cultures and peoples, and we have a great read! Romans, Vikings, American Indian, Neanderthals, Mayans - was anyone left out? I am so looking forward to this becoming a movie series. Will there be a movie in the future? I actually was hoping for more Young Indiana Jones – maybe Jake Ransom is the answer! :-) less

This was a great book, even if it was "young adult" fast pace and a bit of adventure.

Another book where the heroes are 2 young boys and a young girl? OK...
