review 1: Eh. I really don't like Holden. It's still fun, but it follows a similar format as the first book Here too a girl goes missing and Holden et al., help find her and there's maybe possibly war and some super secret weapons and some vomit zombies for good measure. A couple of new characters - one a marine and the other a potty mouthed politician - are both good, but don't make up for the lack of Miller who elevated the first novel. Ah well, it was a fast read and wasn't terrible. I'm committed to read the whole series. 3 stars.
review 2: Battlestar Galactica meets Alien(s) and then some. Even better than part one of the Expanse series. The pace this story is told is unbelievable, the style very, very readable. Seven (!) more volumes and a SciFi series to go, can't... more wait... Highly entertaining stuff, highly recommendable for those who like their space opera hard, fast and full of action. Truly on of the best SciFi I've read in a long, long time. Classic stuff. less
