review 1: A backstory of Amos, one of my favorite characters in the Expanse saga. I didn't need much information than that to be sure I'd enjoy the hell out of it. And lo and behold, I most certainly did. It wouldn't be an Amos story without violence. Or badassnes. Or quiet, contemplative times precluded by more violence. And it wouldn't be an Expanse novella without excellent worldbuilding. Or attention to small details. Or fantastic narrative. This has all of that. In a way, it reminds me very much of Drive, that excellent movie starring Ryan Gosling. It's an easy comparation to make, if one knows where to look.My favorite Expanse novella so far, followed closely by the Butcher of Anderson Station.
review 2: This was a great small read. So much detail, it really paints
... morea wonderful picture of the Earth that was left behind, and how its decayed so much over time, pollution, over crowding, disrepair. If you are reading Expanse, its well worth the time to stop off and read this as well. Amos to me was always a background character, he played his role, but the spot light was rarely on him. After reading this novella, Amos has a new depth, which will hopefully add to the experience of Cibola Burn. less

I admit I couldn't figure the point of this story until near the end. Then the whole thing clicked.
