Miss Fortune Mystery
review 1: Though this is the third book in the Miss Fortune Mystery series, it is the first one that I read. I have to say that I love the juxtaposition of former CIA assassin, Fortune, with the two senior citizen former Vietnam-era operatives. There is a credo of no man left behind, but as far as Gertie and Ida Bell are concerned, no man gets left out. Deleon doesn't dumb down the book for these ladies, and lets them fully engage in strenuous extra-legal activities. Fun. Ny. Being undercover adds such a unique dimension to all of Fortune & Company's activities, where they have to behave like regular, harmless women, but get to kick ass in secret, with only the reader in the know. More, more, more!!!
review 2: This is part of a series, and when I do a book review o
... moren a series I like to wait until I’ve read all the books, but it’s fine to read these separately. Jana does a great job of dropping in a few clues about the back story so you don’t feel lost. A funny tale with some odd but lovable characters. Murder in a small town – never live in a small town – cute cops, and mysterious strangers.I recommend it because it stays just on the right side of farce and I’ll be reading the other ones in the series. I’m curious to find out why Fortune has to hide out. less
