review 1: this novel was amazing. i was so in love that i never wanted this to end. i think its well worth reading the other novel. i really want to know more about Jess and see what other things she could get her self into. i recommend this to all my friends. i love all the charters, they feel like real people and some people in my life remind me of them. i can relate to Jess and Freya. its like Jane Casey took elements of me to make her charters. i hope the others who are thinking about reading this will pick it up and love it as much as me. Thank you Jane Casey for giving me the opportunity to read your advance readers copy.
review 2: First of all, I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I enjoyed this book, especially the overall mix of crime thr
... moreiller and summer vacation. The main character, Jess, looks very similar to her dead cousin, Freya. They lived in different cities and had never met. When Jess and her mom stay in her mom's hometown for the summer, Jess is at first mistaken for Freya. Jess feels a connection to Freya and wants to know more about her life and death. Jess is a determined and naturally curious person. She asks her family, Freya's friends, and other townspeople about Freya's death. Many people don't react well to these questions, but Jess continues to investigate. For the first third to half of the book it seems that Jess is looking for reasons that Freya's death isn't a suicide. This part seemed a little bit forced to me. Later in the story, and with more information, Jess's curiosity seems to have merit. I made myself overlook this lack of information and keep reading. The rest of the book is very enjoyable, especially the mysteries and friendships that are formed. If you enjoy a book with a good mix of mystery and friendships, set in the English summertime, I recommend that you check out this book. Also, the book reminded me of the Lying Game series by Sara Shepard and Escape Theory by Margaux Froley. If you enjoyed these books, I think that you will also enjoy How to Fall by Jane Casey. less
