review 1: This author writes incredibly! I was addicted to this book because Jane paints such a perfect, all-round protagonist that I just wanted to stay with. The plot is finely melded with lots of twists and pulls from various characters. I love how the story was carried over a number of years and how the characters progressed and changed. A truly amazing read, and I look forward to more from this author.
review 2: I found this book on a second hand book sell here in Karachi. The story was really captivating. Sarah Finch is an emotionally vulnerable character. When her brother disappears, so does her mother's affection and attention and her parents are eventually divorced. Sarah is left with a drunk and depressed mother, who never overcomes her son's loss. Sarah start
... mores working as a teacher and one finds her own student dead in the wood. The investigation somehow leads back to her brother's disappearance. An interesting story. I personally feel that Sarah's character gets stronger in the course of these events. Told from one person's point of view, the story was really moving. I found it a bit slow in some places ( I really don't like it when writers describe in detail about the surrounding places) but a well written psychological thriller. less

Drew
A good solid debut crime novel with parallel crimes in two eras. Realistic detectives with flaws.
