Maeve Kerrigan
review 1: This series must be read in order because there are spoilers from previous books. This series features Maeve Kerrigan, a lowly DC, who in this book is helping in the search for a serial killer. Not all of the characters are likeable and the main character makes some missteps which makes it a more interesting read. I hope the next book resolves the dangling plot line from this book so that certain characters have an opportunity to grow. I look forward to the next book.
review 2: Maeve is drawn into a murder investigation in which there are elements similar to an old unsolved case - the murder of Derwent's girlfriend years before. He had been a suspect in that but had an alibi; there now seem to be a number of clues pointing to him. Maeve is told not to share i
... morenformation with him (but she does). At the same time, Rob is away and Maeve is alone in a flat she hoped her stalker had not discovered, but events suggest otherwise. As the historical case is uncovered, a number of potential suspects appear, and finally unmasking the actual murderer of the current series is quite complicated. Ironically, it turns out that the connection to the historical case is more to do with its effect on a bystander than anything else. I didn't work out all the twists although I did more or less land on the right suspect for the modern murders. less
