review 1: I love these books and have read all of them 3 x's and 4 of them 5 x's. I never tire of them. I really like reading her pre-historic novels and all the research and information in them. Everyone time I have read them I see something I really had not picked up before, or just read over it. The characters are very real to me. Myself, I feel humans are still pretty much the same. I will probably read again in the not too distant futures. If an adult thinks they would be interested in this, they would find they would like them.
review 2: I loved this series although I could have imagined a better series closer. Valley of the Horses was my favorite, then Clan of the Cave Bear, I liked Plains of Passage and Shelters of Stone equally. Mammoth Hunters was good but my... more least favorite until I read The land of the painted Caves. I wish I had let my imagination paint the picture of this portion of Ayla's journey.I read the series out of order the first time. The second time around I read it in order and was happy to re-visit places and faces I had known before. less
